Erik Bernstein

Erik Bernstein is photographer living and working in Brooklyn, NY.

Inspired heavily by his appetite, Erik uses splashy light, rich shadows, and a healthy dose of nostalgia to make even the most basic burger look like a party. Growing up in Southern California, summer felt year round and sunshine was almost always in abundance. This no doubt lends itself to his photography, bringing the most benign subjects to light in a way that piques the senses. Erik brings the same playfulness to his other work: you’ll want to be sitting in the bright, airy interiors he captures, enjoying a fizzy pet nat with friends or a simple meal with your loved ones. He loves to travel, especially to Joshua Tree for a photoshoot at dusk, or to Paris to visit museums and enjoy wine and cheese for a late lunch. On any given day, you can probably find him lounging at the park, reading a book, in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, where he lives with his wife and cat, Luna, or shooting and processing film at his wife’s business, Gowanus Darkroom.

His clients include but are not limited to: Milk Street, Delish, Eater, Prevention, Cocoon Flex Spaces, Osso Architects, Hearst Media, Brooklinen, Crate and Barrel Kids, Bed Bath and Beyond, and ABC Carpet and Home.

His work has also been published in Wall Street Journal, Domino, Dwell, and T Magazine.
